Vardons Restaurant at Shaw Hill Hotel

A small group has met here once a month for about a year. The food and service are excellent (though the wait is a little slow-1 of the group is limited by time). The restaurant is exceptionally clean and attractive.

Very good indeed. Will certainly come again.

We ate in Vardons restaurant to celebrate my Mums 87th birthday. The meals were faultless - every course was delicious and perfectly presented with very generous portion sizes, perfect smoked salmon, beautiful tender roast beef with a fabulous selection of vegetables, and a lively light lemon posset to finish. The service was excellent, and we were so comfortable we lingered fir around three hours! We enjoyed this excellent well priced meal so much - we will definitely return.

Food amazing belly pork starter just melted in the mouth then lamb rump for mains very soft vegetables cooked to perfection . Cheese board for after with locally sourced cheeses . Staff very friendly and polite willing to advise on the dishes we had chosen.

We had arrived on the wrong day apparently but a table was organised that also took account of one of our members being in an electric wheelchair which was good. It was slow to offer a drink initially though and to take the order but once this was done it all flowed reasonably well. My own lamb dish was good but one of us did comment on the beef being very chewey. I thought the sticky toffee pudding wasn't great - sauce good but pudding felt a slab of sponge pudding (rather than an integrated sticky toffee with sauce additional and didn't find evidence of dates...
