Excellent afternoon tea served by friendly and attentive waitress. She looked after us very well, especially my three year old Granddaughter !
The service was excellent, every single detail of the food and setting were perfect.
First time at Bettys, it was for our silver wedding anniversary, they made us feel very special.
Bettys in York has always been a favourite place to visit, but this time, I have to say was a little disappointing.
Pre-booked Vegan/gluten-free Lady Bettys Afternoon Tea and although it was well presented and tasty they had ran out of gluten-free bread for the additional sandwiches, so I was given the sandwich fillings served on lettuce leaves. There was already a plate of salad (seemingly in lieu of the scones on the usual version) so more salad wasn’t welcomed!
The waitress was very apologetic and I wasn’t charged for my Afternoon Tea, which is great customer service and for me that was adequate recompense, but the food was well-below expectations.
My friend had the traditional version of the Afternoon Tea and hers was delicious and she thoroughly enjoyed it.
No disabled access to the Belmont Room which is upstairs, so we were specifically accommodated in the main cafe area and served by the Belmont Room waitress which was a nice touch. Toilets are downstairs though, so disabled guests would need to be aware of this if dining.
Overall, a lovely experience that was of a high standard in quality and service, and I will return another time.
I’m sure Bettys will be asked more and more to cater for customers with specific dietary requirements and I think in that respect they could do better.
Pianist added to the ambiance but the tables were very close together and we felt a bit cramped for space.
A birthday treat of a vegan/gluten-free individual cake to take
home was a lovely surprise!
Definitely worth booking as the experience upstairs is so much better. The food was great, a the have a massive selection of teas. All to be enjoyed with a live pianist playing in the corner.
Afternoon Tea very nice, Dining room not quite as opulent as expected, just expected a little more for the price paid.
Every aspect of our visit to celebrate our birthdays was wonderful. From the place itself, impeccable service & attention to detail the whole experience was a memorable one. The service & manner of the staff was faultless. Thank you so very much.
I had an afternoon tea in Bettys on the 24th of August and was physically ill by the experience will not attend again worst afternoon tea I have had and I have visited the Ritz and Dorchester of London which are up there with the best of them very disappointing !!!????
The chicken sandwiches were delicious and the cakes absolutely to die for . The staff were very helpful and friendly
It was a lovely experience. We will definitely be coming again. Parking is bit of an issue if you have people in your party with mobility issues.
