Very nice and elegant. Interesting and delicious food preparations (I had the space-themed vegan high tea)
Great theme, food and tea was lovely and there was a nice touch of adding a plate of “Happy Birthday” truffles.
However the service was very slow, we requested more sandwiches but it took so long we ended up going onto scones by the time they arrived. There was a ludicrously long wait to just get the bill which made us late for our next appointment despite leaving plenty of time
There was also someone vacuuming for 10 mins during our afternoon tea which meant we could hear each other
Unfortunately it was not the experience I was expecting, the attention to detail was mediocre and service was of poor quality. Staff were not readily available.
I have been to several afternoon teas of exceptional standard and was expecting the same level of service.
Our table was not cleared of a spillage my son of 5 yrs had caused, staff dropped food off my son’s spaceship tray which was not replaced, waited long to be served our drinks, only offered my partner an extra savoury roll.
The most concerning was although highlighted my son’s nut allergy at the time of booking and made a note upon booking form, staff were not aware of my son’s nut allergy which I had to make them aware of again (hence poor attention to detail). With all the recent allergy attention in the media/news and schools I would have expected a hotel of your calibre to be on “top of your game” especially as the science afternoon tea is aimed at children!
I had also mentioned it was my younger son’s 5th bday and nothing was arranged not even a simple “happy birthday” was mentioned to him by the staff. :(
Adult food was of good quality and selection however the children’s tray was full of sugar.
The science part for the children was great, they really enjoyed making the drink and the dry ice effect so thank you for that.
Fun ideas and staff were nice, however the food and drink ranged from OK to bad. The experiment drink to being was not nice and the Petri dish tasted of vinegar. Theme was great but that can’t come before quality/taste of food. The only thing I want more of was the small savoury tart. Overall there was a lot of sweet food and not enough savoury to balance it out. No cream included for the scone on the tea-pot rails option either.
An amazing experience! I couldn't of been happier and more impressed with the science afternoon tea. Every element was perfection, I booked this for my Boyfriend for his Birthday. He absolutely loved it and it perfectly set up our afternoon of looking around the science and natural history museums. I have been to many afternoon teas at various prestigious hotels and have to say, this is easily out in front as the best.
The science afternoon tea concept is phenomenal!
Loved the atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings. Staff very presentable, polite & just the right amount of checking all was ok.we loved all the food except the little coconut cake - a bit too much dried coconut (but thats just our taste & some may like that)
A few more teas on the selection would be good.
Would be nice to have real flowers not PLASTIC!
Wonderful experience, unexpected presentation
Fabulous 'science' afternoon tea with the kids at the Ampersand Hotel. Great service and very nice food.
We had the science-themed afternoon tea and it was fabulous! The sweet and savoury items were incredible, beautiful to look at and delicious to eat. The interactive elements of the afternoon tea were so much fun, even for two adults.
