Lovely, quirky décor. Relaxing ambience. Food very good apart from lambs liver which we had had before and it had been fine - not today though, which was disappointing
Great location. Delicious fayre and fantastic hosts. As it turned out there was no Bookatable deal for Sunday lunch, but the whole experience was wonderful.
Excellent as usual dining there again today
Great food and fantastic service.
Loved the feel of the restaurant it was very welcoming. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing. We were a table of 7 so we tried a lot of different dishes on the menu and every one was perfectly cooked and the flavors complemented each dish. Congratulations on a fabulous interesting and tasty menu.
We were looking forward to eating here because it had the ‘Goodwood essence’
The first thing I noticed was that there was no music, it is such an open and airy space that it might benefit from some soft background music. The service was good but amateur, and maybe another member of staff was required. It seemed like only one person was running food. We were offered only one slice of bread which tasted stale. After waiting a while for our starter the fire alarms went off and we were asked to evacuate. The staff were very good and calm at doing this. I heard a comment from a neighbouring table saying that it had happened to them in the past. We then were seated and immediately our starter was served whilst I was in the toilet. How disappointed we both were. We had the scallop dish and the cauliflower donuts. They both lack immensely in any form of texture and flavour and I doubt that the scallops were indeed hand dived. They had also been cooked so much that they were chewy and dry, and there was no coral sauce on the plate. The donuts only tasted of flour and lacked seasoning. We were both very disappointed. We shared the beef board. This lacked the presentation and flavour values stated on the menu. Again under seasoned and lacking inspiration. The portion size of said sharing dish was huge. We felt to big, and a waste of quality meat.
We did expect more from a Goodwood restaurant and left felling rather underwhelmed.
Service was charming as always. Starters - ok. Mains#: pork collar a disappointment - weird taste and tough. Tri-tip beef was mouth wateringly delicious. Stunning souffle for pudding and fab wines. On this evening seemed a bit of an off-night, have been several times before and really enjoyed it. Will go again.
Very poor. Started with pork and apple doughnuts which were horrid - extremely bitter aftertaste and stodgy. Shared a beef board for main which was tough and drastically underseasoned. Very expensive for really poor food. Avoid.
I’m sorry to say our lunch was disappointing. Two of us ordered the lamb, although a good flavour we were unable to cut the meat even asking and receiving serrated knives. The plates were returned and I opted for the fish while my friend chose the lamb again which was an improvement.
Sea bream was excellent. The pear and almond tart was excellent.
The wait between the starter and main course was far too long and I had to ask how much longer do we have to wait.
Just one more point I do not expect to have plastic water glasses at the Goodwood hotel!
