Original and delicious food in atmospheric setting.
Our table was waiting for us when we arrived, we prefer a corner table as they will seat 4 people so there is plenty of room for 2. We had the 2 courses and a cocktail each for £16.95 offer, which was extremely good value for money. There was no restriction on the choice of cocktails so we both had a champagne cocktail (usually £12.95 each). Starters were very tasty and ample portions, I had corn dogs which is an unusual dish in the UK, but they were most enjoyable - I'd have these again. My wife had mackerel which she really enjoyed. We both had sea bass fillets for our mains and once again these were large fillets and very nicely cooked. Service was good throughout with both wine and water being topped up as required. The restaurant was virtually empty on a Sunday evening which is how we like to enjoy a romantic meal. We would recommend this offer.
Excellent food and service as always
We were at your restaurant as recompense for a disappointing birthday meal eight of us attended in November . It was a better experience , though the service was slow and despite being told on your letter we would be welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine . We were straight away asked if we were ready to order ...I pointed out that we were expecting to be offered the complimentary glass of wine first , this lady had the letter stating this . Her response was "I can't just give you wine , I don't know what you want " That's a ridiculous response as I have never been to a restaurant where I'm not asked "what would you like to drink ?" as a menu is perused . Apart from that and the slow service , the food was fine , thank you but I shan' t visit your restaurant again . Other Hotel du Vin I have used have provided a much better service and attitude
The hotel was understanding that we were wet and cold and made us welcome including closing the door to the outside seafood area when we pointed out that we were cold.
The food was very good and we had good service.
Really surprised that an establishment that advertised Nyetimber on its umbrellas and it was on their menu could not - on the first day of Henley! - provide a bottle of Nyetimber champagne when we ordered it.
The hotel staff were most welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful champagne tea with sandwiches, sausage roll, scones, cakes and more. All beautifully presented in the comfortable lounge.
Superb ! Only gripe was that it came with one portion of chips .
Our meal was super, we had originally booked for the set menu but changed our minds for the a la carte when we noticed a few favourites. Service was excellent, ambience good. We will be back, thank you to the lovely staff who made this a special lunch.
Only two courses and a glass of house wine not as stated three courses and wine for £19.50.
Nice food.friendly staff.
We visit Hotel du Vin regularly, especially to take advantage of their Star Deals. Food is always good (ingredients are fresh and well prepared) and service usually of a high standard. On our latest visit however we were very disappointed with the ambience in the restaurant. A local IT company of poor etiquette was using a couple of tables in the middle of the restaurant for business syndicate team work - not very professional. We were unsympathetic to the waitress who was unwilling to ask them to move to the large lounge bar in the next room.
