We can't give it a great review...service was not good...took ages to take our order, forgot to bring our wine...only just made our 8pm concert having been seated at 6.30....and they charged 12 1/2 % service charge for the privilege!!

Disappointing. Location good and the pre-theatre menu looks great, but the cooking is not better than ordinary with tough panzarella, tasteless beef cheeks and polenta and a very tough risotto. The best thing was deep fried courgettes. All frankly over-priced and presumably there to cater for Barbican patrons who haven't been before. Friendly service.

Very convenient location for a quick bite before a show.

Variable quality ( some pasta strands stuck together, delicious chicken liver sauce - tender veal in the ragu, but too tomatoey and little evidence of the promised n'duja and no parmesan offered, apricot tart too sweet but offset by the ice cream- fine Pinot Nero, average Nero d'Avola )

Terrible. The service was appalling - it was clear from the start that our waitress was clumsy (although she didn't spill anything over our table, she did so twice on some poor people sitting at the table next to us) and forgetful. We had to ask for bread and olives (which everyone else seemed to get automatically), after our starters (which were fine but nothing to write home about) we waited for about 30 mins only for the waitress to ask us whether we would like dessert when we hadn't received our main courses and still obviously had our main course cutlery sitting in front of us, unused...she then 'chased up' our main courses (we suspect that they were delivered to another table) and even then when they eventually came out another 10 mins later they got my partners order wrong (we had been at the restaurant for an hour and 15 mins by this point and had tickets for a concert so couldn't hang about)....the risotto particularly was pretty tasteless and had a tiny portion of squid on it...when presented with the bill the waitress made a point of saying that no service charge had been included (which obviously if it was I would have told them to remove) but no other discount had been given.....All in all really disappointing and not worth the money. Avoid.

Actually it was extremely disappointing. It was my birthday and we had come expecting a memorable pre-concert meal. The first course - poached pear - was about one third of a pear, cut into four small pieces, with accompanying "almond porridge"... we weren't sure whether said porridge was the creamy sauce at the bottom of the dish, or the lump of very salty mixture on the side. Having then waited at least 15 minutes for our mains, we were told that there was a problem with the oven in the kitchen, and the fish was now unavailable. We asked why on earth we weren't told of this before, if this meant having to re-order, whereupon the member of staff said she would go and find out if they could now provide the fish; however she didn't return to our table to update us, and were kept waiting almost another 30 minutes not knowing what was happening, before our mains (including the fish) finally appeared. The much-vaunted roast potatoes were dry and cold. Time had moved on a lot by now, meaning we were quite rushed to finish our food before getting to the concert hall, and there was no time to order dessert or coffee. Thus our meal was severely curtailed, which really spoiled the occasion. We both ordered glasses of red wine, about the most pricey choice touted as "Christmas in a Glass." While it was pleasant, I would say the menu description of this wine was very overblown, it was nothing more than pleasantly nice, a long way from outstanding.
At the end of our shortened meal, a member of staff brought us a reduced price bill, in recognition of the delays we had experienced. While this was appreciated, including the fact that they had done so without being asked, it still rankles that what should have been a really enjoyable dining experience was pretty much ruined. One books pre-concert food at the venue, in the knowledge that you won't be rushed and can enjoy an efficient, relaxed evening, however in our experience this was very far from the case.

Sadly this time round was an unmitigated disaster and we will think twice about returning in the future.

This was one of the most disappointing restaurant meals we have eaten in a long time. By 6.15 there were no sardines or sea bass left; very early in the evening for such depletion of choice. Then the wrong bottle of wine was brought (changed promptly enough). The starter we chose instead of the sardines (smoked salmon) was pleasant enough but miniscule and too warm. My risotto main course was revolting; underseasoned and overcooked. My partner's pasta with heritage cauliflower seemed to be missing the cauliflower and was soggy with cream. And it all arrived so late that, in spite of it beig a pre-theatre menu, we were late for the start of the play. We won't be going there again.

I think that they should change the name of the restaurant...As it is not clearly an Italian one! The food was very disappointing... I ordered a "Risotto al nero di seppia" which was extremely over cooked, the risotto had the texture of a bowl of porridge and I couldn't it at all. My husband's Rigatoni of Calabrian sausage was just average. The service was slow considering that we had a per-Theatre menu ( we are suppose to eat in an hour...) and the bill ridiculous expensive as they charge £17 per head for just one dish, £ 47 ( including a bottle of sparkling water, one side dish & service charge). We will not come back :(
