A Mexican and Spanish fusion eatery, Decimo in Kings Cross is the debut London brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesia. Situated on the 10th floor of the Standard Hotel, the glamorous restaurant offers floor-to-ceiling window views of the cityscape in an on-trend, firepit-flanked interior.
The Decimo menu is packed with flavour, boasting a range of dishes designed for sharing. Small plates include marinated red peppers with sourdough, a Manchego cheese quesadilla, and a broth-like spicy crab and jalapeno aguachile. Elsewhere on the menu, find the likes of tortilla generously topped with caviar, extra-large garlic langoustines and the signature crispy suckling pig leg.
Open late at the weekend, Decimo restaurant serves drinks until the early hours, where diners can gaze over Kings Cross from the undoubtably elegant and impressive wooden bar. A Mexican-inspired interior is peppered with potted tropical succulent trees in amongst the red-tiled tabletops and red chairs, while above, a patterned rattan ceiling adds an exotic touch.

Very nice atmosphere, came to taste the caviar tortilla! I was celebrating my birthday. Dishes were served a little cold, from my expectation. Especially the caviar tortilla, furthermore we were served a caraf of wine without asking. Server was very informative and helpful. Music was great! A shame I didn’t get a birthday cookie/dessert from the waiter but I’m not sure how that works at Decimo.

A supposed “hip vibe“ and sexy staff, obviously chosen for their youthful good looks rather than their skill or knowledge, are not sufficient to offset the tasteless food, bland presentation and ridiculous prices. The last time I had a meal presented on a piece of grease-stained brown paper on a wooden platter I was in a ghastly gastro pub in the midlands in 1997 - it was horrible there and it’s horrible here - interrupted by staff too eager to move us on to the next bottle of wine (££££) and out of our table so that the next punter could be ripped off, we felt rushed and disappointed. The newspaper critics who have written this place up must either be on the payroll or so desperate for something “different” that they have been taken in by the Arizona mock Frank Lloyd Wright designed nightclub atmosphere, complete with raffia matts on the ceiling, and forgotten that the basic requirement of a good restaurant is good food.

Warm, welcoming, elegant & friendly staff. Comfortable bar area for pre dinner drinks or for socialising and tequila tasting. Great, quality cocktails, not just tequila. Lovely open, but sectioned dining space on different levels with statement fire and palm trees, cozy ambience with Spanish/Mexican influence & music. Loved everything we tried on the menu, from the bread dripping in quality olive oil & salt (enough for 4!), crab with jalapeño jelly & lime - fresh & subtly tangy & warm, tasty tacos, and succulent suckling pig shoulder (shared between 2) with crispy roasted potatoes & charred leek & aioli. Everything cooked to perfection. For desert we went for an interesting version of creme Catalan. Delicious! We will certainly be back to try the frittata with caviar and the beef, which also looked mouth wateringly good. Michelin standard Mexican, and a lovely date night with my husband.

The location is fantastic with very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Food is delicious but you could come out with a large bill and still hungry as dishes are very small - the sharing/tapas idea is great but you need quite a lot even for a table of 4.

All the dishes were excellent except for one main dish: The sirloin steak was slightly disappointing since not very tasty nor very tender. Also, the meat was served warm temperate. The service was pretty bad since it was not clear which waiter was responsible for what. Staff was friendly but not very attentive. Location is amazing and also the ambience is great.
