Enjoy AA Rosette-awarded dining at Bartley Lodge Hotel, a secluded woodland hideaway in the New Forest. Refined British cuisine is served in the hotel’s sophisticated Crystal Restaurant.
Signature dishes on the Bartley Lodge menu range from a cod brandade, with spiced puy lentils and cauliflower beignets, to a contemporary twist on the British ham hock, served with pea puree and herb-crusted hen’s egg. Traditional British mains like ale-battered fish and chips and honey-glazed ham can be followed by a warm poached pear with mulled-wine sorbet, whilst cheeses are a proud local selection featuring an exciting garlic and nettle option.
A former library, the elegant Bartley Lodge restaurant in Lyndhurst welcomes diners with toasty open fires in winter and open French doors in summer, which lead out into the hotel’s beautiful gardens. Breakfast can be taken in style with the addition of a glass of chilled champagne.

Overall delicious afternoon tea and the scones were superb. Constructive feedback would be for the waiter to serve the sandwiches, cake and scones ideally all at the same time. Had to ask for the cakes and also for the champagne.

We all really enjoyed our food we had roast beef and chicken the beef was cooked to perfection the chicken was lovely and moist as well. We were asked if we would like more gravy which was nice and don't like to ask but on this occasion there was enough. The brandy snap looked lovely and tasted good as well. We sat in the orangery which we love is always nice to see the views and is a pretty room.

Delightful Spring Afternoon Tea with my daughter. Delicious sandwiches, scones and little treats (particularly the chocolate pavè - wow!) served in beautiful surroundings by attentive staff - perfect.

The food was good but we were dissaponted by the service provided. We had informed you of the fact that one of our party was allergic to both cheese and chocolate, however this fact was not known by the serving staff and we had to wait for additional sandwiches to be made, alo one of the scones was u cooked in the centre and was replaced. The serving staff were generally inattentive throughout, missing the request for lemon slices for the Earl Gray tea, no checking to se if weneeded additional pots of tea, or cream and jam.
The setting is lovely but the service needs improvement befire we would return.

We had booked in advance as one member of our party was gluten intolerant - a critical factor in an afternoon tea! Upon arrival, we were shown through to the dining room which was in the aftermath of a busy lunchtime service with stripped tables everywhere and piles of linen on the floor next to tables. A gentleman apologised for the state of affairs and was in the process of redressing the tables for the evening service. Our table was tucked away against a side wall with no natural light in the middle of the turmoil of post lunch service. There was a conservatory with space and also a bay window within the restaurant that had a table and we asked to be moved. We were refused the table in the conservatory due to a large group already having reserved most of the space, but "allowed" to move to the bay once the table had been laid.
We were given the (set) menu for afternoon tea and asked which drinks we would like. These were not on the menu! Once tea had been ordered the menus were removed. We had to ask for them back again later to identify the cakes!! We were told quite clearly that sandwiches would be brought first, then scones & cakes later, after sandwiches! none of our group had ever encountered an afternoon tea whereby we were served sandwiches separately from the other items. The platters of sandwiches were placed on the 3 tier tea stand- alone!! Each person was brought their own pot of tea of choice except 2 ladies that had requested the same tea who were brought the same size pot- to share! Quite speechless.
We were also informed that the scones were not gluten free, so there would be no scones for one person. Almost 3 weeks notice and not only no GF scones, but no substitute, and no adjustment to the cost of the afternoon tea. This was really quite poor; the receptionist agreed when we settled our bill and said she would feed it back but still no offer of adjusting the bill.
Food and venue were pleasant but it is unlikely we will return.

5 stars for food, 3 stars for service. Food beautiful, and a quiet week so arrived quickly and hot. Unfortunately, our expectations of service was a let down. We had to pour our own wine and was not offered any bread or rolls. We had the manager seat us, so this could be why!

Unfortunately disappointing. Booking was for 4 people, but only 3 people were able to dine (I was too poorly to attend). Despite advising of fish and strawberry allergy on booking form, and again on the day, salmon sandwiches and strawberry jam were still served up. Once served, left alone in the restaurant and didn't see waitress again. On paying the bill, my husband was charged for 4 people?! As this was a belated Mother's Day treat for his Mum, he settled the bill and did not query or make a fuss. He was wrong to do this. Why was he served food for 4 people when there were obviously only 3 seated at the table, and then charged for 4 people? Very poor service. I'm afraid after a lovely experience previous year, we will not be returning. My husband could not fault the food itself (apart from the allergy foods served).

Easily booked online and request for my mother was listened to.
We were greeted at the main door and passed to the restaurant staff. The woman looking after us was very attentive and could not have been more helpful with serving at our table.
The sandwiches were excellent as were the cakes and scones.
The teas, however, could have been served in China cups and teapots, just to make it that extra bit special.
You have a lovely hotel, set in a wonderful part of the country and we enjoyed our afternoon tea with you.
