A stunning Basque restaurant, 'Ametsa with Arzak Instruction' is a unique collaboration between Elena Arzak - voted Veuve Clicquot World's Best Female Chef in 2012 - along with her father Juan Mari Arzak, and Mikel Sorazu, Igor Zalakian and Xabier Gutierrez. Ametsa's approach is rooted in the traditions of 'New Basque Cuisine,' pairing the earthy flavours and techniques of Spain's Basque region with modern, surprising twists featuring locally-sourced and organic produce from land and sea.

We had the tasting menu and they adapted it last minute for a non meat eater with no fuss. Beautifully balanced menu with interesting flavours and textures. We really enjoyed our evening. Decor a bit bland - could do with a feature!

Our meal was stunning, experimental and creative and our drinks were superb too. The service was great, we had a lovely evening. The star deal was amazing value for money!

We both had the lunch tasting menu with the accompanying wines. The highlight of our visit to Amesta was the person who served us. He combined professionalism with friendliness, knowledge of the food and wines, and humour.
All the dishes presented were visually outstanding and displayed great technical competence by the kitchen. The focus of the restaurant is clearly on the visual impact. However, almost all the food was bland and some of it quite tasteless. Also, some of the dishes were, to me, silly. Why would anyone put one cooked mussel at the bottom of a small glass of "tomato soup"??
This could be a great restaurant if they re-thought the menu and focused an producing dishes with flavour/s and only then decided how to present them with visual appeal.
Lunch for two people with a glass of fizz to begin; coffee; and a glass of Climens '09 was £346 (including service). For this price the food should be memorable, however, it was only the service that was memorable.

Took the £45 tasting menu including wine - first day entry into force. As usual, every plate a work of art, food absolutely delicious, service from charming and well informed efficient staff. Endor always a pleasure - watch out for the doughnut - what a surprise

Average place and service ( they tried but it is not what you expect from michelin starred restaurant) , poor food and not really good wine.
