My wife and I shared the cote du boeuf and it was exquisite, up there with Edinburgh's best steak restaurants and at a lower price. The front of house team, led by Peter, are very welcoming and professional. I would recommend dining here to anyone, not just hotel guests.

Paul Tamburrini at Macdonald Holyrood Hotel delivers a fine dining experience in a comfortably chic and stylish setting. With uniquely sourced Scottish ingredients and fresh local produce, our restaurant offers a repertoire of French classics interpreted by Chef Tamburrini and influenced by his passion for exceptional dishes and the Master Chefs under whom he has trained. Everything was excellent. The ambiance, the service, the food was extremely flavourful and special.

Tiresome refusal to add an extra table setting, requiring to be authorised by kitchen. Insufficient bar staff, and poor coordination of bar account with pending restaurant account. Fine and sohisticated cooking, well executed. Good service, but intermittent and under strain.
Overall: wonderful cooking, weak front of house.

Excellent food and really pleasant table service . Turbot main was delicious as was the key lime pie . Crockery was unique and would replace all my own in a heartbeat with similar. Lacked a bit of atmosphere but I guess that’s because restaurant was close to empty. I imagine it’ll have a different vibe when tables are booked out with more customers. Thoroughly enjoyed lunch and will come back for dinner next time

This restaurant only opened last October so it has very few ratings but they are all 5* so we gave it a chance and went for dinner.
It is a very nice atmosphere and was easy to make reservations online unlike many other nice restaurants in Edinburgh that are always booked out. It is outside of the center but only 10min by Uber from downtown
We discussed the menu with the very helpful head waiter and were able to get an app portion of the amazing fresh king Crab dish plus the foiswiths pate. Both dishes were rich in flavor and we'll balanced. All king krab in the US is frozen so this fresh Crab was a first - and excellent.
We saw the coet de. Boeuf for 2 on the menu and after clarifying that it was indeed prime Rib we ordered it rare. It came out thickly sliced and perfectly cooked with its own juice. We also ordered the creamed spinach instead of the onion rings plus it came with triple cooked fries and a salad.
The dish was incredible. The meat was tender, which was a first for us in Scotland, and rich in flavor. The portions were very generous and we added bernaise and pepper sauce to the mix. The creamed spinach was freshly made and a perfect balance of all ingredients - not soupy at all. The accompanying wonderful bottle of Amarone was a perfect March for our meal.
Thanks we can highly recommend this up and coming restaurant as best in class on an international level. Wish we had one of these near where we live in the US.

The setting is very nice with a separate area to enjoy a drink on arrival before moving into the well spaced restaurant. The food and service were both first class and we would definitely return for future visits.

Had the ribeye steak for main course it was beautiful. Brilliant service from everyone. Knew one of the chefs personally and made special efforts to make it a good experience for us. His name is Gary Matthews.
