Holding the only Michelin Star in North Wales, as well as featuring in the Good Food Guide and The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants 2014, Tyddyn Llan is not short on accolades. Perfectly executed, traditional dishes are served in a Georgian country house with serene gardens and views of the Welsh mountains.

The Tyddyn Llan menu is packed with strong flavours, including fillet, cheek and belly of pork, with black pudding, breaded trotter and shallot thyme purée. Equally enticing is loin of venison with goats’ cheese gnocchi, port and elderberries, or turbot with coco beans, Morteau sausage and watercress sauce.

Whether dining a la carte, or choosing from the 6 or 9-course tasting menus, desserts at Tyddyn Llan Llandrillo are spectacular. Try damson soup with blackberries and cinnamon ice cream, pannacotta with poached figs and honey, or whimberry crème brulée. A lengthy wine list is also available.

    My husband and I took our son (aged 26) for a birthday lunch, and because the restaurant was quiet, it felt like a "private dining" experience. We had the 6 course taster lunch and there were a couple of stand out courses - the roast hake with laver bread was soooo tasty and the venison was cooked to perfection. Stand out dessert was the champagne and rhubarb trifle. You never feel rushed dining here, even when it is busy.

    The taster menu was phenomenal, I couldn't recommend it enough! All of the staff were friendly and very attentive. The breakfast was probably worth coming for as much as the evening meal. A lovely experience.

    The premises are beautiful and the food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed our main courses of turbot and the fillet au poivremwhich showed the quality of your ingredients. The aperitifs were also a delight and the tiny bowls of pumpkin soup were worth travelling for on their own

    1st visit and thought it was wonderful. Food was excellent and portion sizes larger than expected - which was a pleasant surprise.

    It would have been much nicer to have had the coffee etc in the lounge and for the bill to be brought to us there rather than for us to sit in the dining area wondering what happened re the bill. Also had to track someone down to find my coat.

    But loved it.

    The dining experience was excellent, the food superb and attention to detail very much appreciated . For starters we had the quail and the scallops, both cooked to perfection. The main course was John Dory and the duck, again faultless. Dessert was the Creme Brûlée and the St Emillion. Perfect complements to the meal. Would we recommend the experience, absolutely.
    Minor , non food related comments are: We were not staying at the hotel, parking was a nightmare and the car park has insufficient lighting, it needs to be better improved.
    I had to continually top up my own wine glass, restaurants of a much lesser quality are more attentative, when replenishing the drinks on the table ( wine and water).

    No one asked if we wanted port or brandy to finish the meal.

    Finally, we had to find someone to take our payment, and then work our way to a small "office" to pay.

    In the round minor issues, but with a compulsory 10% service charge, client attention could be improved. May be dropping the compulsory service charge may have the desired impact.

    The service is always excellent. I particularly like my salt baked beetroot starter, very light, and fresh tasting.
