From acclaimed chef Adam Handling, The Frog in Ely’s Yard Spitalfields showcases his distinctive cooking style in a relaxed setting. Combining the best possible produce with a lightly theatrical touch, innovative dishes are served for brunch, lunch and dinner.

As well as a la carte dishes, The Frog offers a daily changing, 5-course tasting menu, packed with exciting flavour combinations and cooking techniques. The food menu is matched by the drinks list, which features craft beers from selected micro-breweries, new age wines from young winemakers, curated cocktails and even in-house made kombucha.

With artwork by young artists exhibited on the walls, the interior sees industrial design features joined by eclectic soft furnishings and a wooden-topped bar.

The Frog Restaurant London sits just off Brick Lane, a short walk from Shoreditch High Street Station.

    Having been regulars at the Caxton we were keen to try Adam Handlings new Restaurant . We were not disappointed , great food as good as you will find anywhere in London . The Hake dish was superb and my wife loved the Lamb shank . Service felt a little rushed which was probably due to the fact we dined quite early ( 6pm) and it was midweek so not particularly busy .
    Look forward to returning soon .

    A very quirky environment, however the quality of food was brilliant. We had the tasting menu and although my wife has some dietary requirements they were able to accommodate her without batting an eye, which some of the more upmarket restaurants could take a lesson in! The whole experience was nothing like we expected, although we had no expectations.
    Despite the fact that Adam was not there, this did not detract in any way the quality of food and service.
    We will be going back but not until the spring/summer for a change of menu.
    Overall experience: Amazing, fantastic, brilliant.

    Just the best meal and experience ... Adam Handling's food is truly superb and his new restaurant has such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Only disappointment of the night was that we had to leave and go home :( Hope to go back soon

    This is not the first time we have dined at the Frog but we love the innovative ideas and wonderful food produced by Adam Handling and his team.

    Having been on the tasting menu we were treated to some fantastic flavours and an amazing excellent evening out.

    The cod course was lovely and we were lucky enough to be the first to try the new pork dish which was sublime. Don't miss out on the sourdough bread with chicken skin butter either.

    It is surely only a matter of time before a Michelin star arrives at this place.

    Confident cooking, the kitchen makes the most of seasonal ingredients and adds value with clever touches, especially evident in the snack menu.
    The menu offers exceptionally good value, probably because of the money saved on its location and the building itself (which is essentially a shed). I applaud the innovation. I would far rather eat here than in a multi-million pound, multiple-restaurant group venue with fancy chandeliers and furniture.
    The wine list offers a good choice with a very reasonable mark-up.

    Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff, the restaurant consists of a inside and outside area. The inside feeling a bit more like a restaurant, especially in late November and outside just feels like an informal place made up of swing benches and tables. Maybe great for a drink, not really setting the scene for a tasting menu experience. We sat down outside after having been told it's the only space they have available. Having arrived with long heavy coats we asked if there was a wardrobe. No such thing. So not off to the best start.

    Water arrives and a minute later we get offered a table inside. We decide to take it.

    My girlfriend sitting opposite me is staring right into the bathroom that often when it's left with the door open is on full display. Great. At least she get's to see the chefs at work as well. Coats hanging on our chairs we order the tasting menu and the wine pairing.

    The ambiance is under all critique. There are too many tables and you can hear even a small laughter across the room. Every single noise bounces around the room. So you end up shouting at each other trying to have a conversation or you simply give up talking because of your noisy neighbours sitting 30 cm from you. So you end up listening to them talking about who they fucked last night. Nice. But not the restaurants fault.

    Anyway, the food arrives. With each dish brought out by the chef responsible it's a culinary journey that is perfectly put together. Each dish compliments the other. The wine pairings are good but the service is inconsistent as we have 3 different people looking after our wine. The sommelier is by far the best person at explaining and presenting.

    Then we realise what it's all about. The reason the rating is so high is the same reason Pret a manger has 4.1. It's people who have never been to a nice restaurant and the food is 100 times better than the space. People have no idea and get surprised. And so were we.
