1/4 of the dishes deserved 2 stars in terms pf taste. Most of the dishes are extremely too salty. No a la cart option. Our server is not as polite as he should be. The decor is nice. The plating was nice. But overall taste of the whole experience was not a wow!

Loved it. Here's my Yelp review:

"What's in a name?" Not much, if you ask our beloved English playwright by way of one of his most iconic of characters. The question certainly bears contemplation when dining at The Restaurant. That which we call the restaurant by any other name would still be as delightful an experience. However, perhaps this restaurant really is THE restaurant by which all others should compare.

From the flavor bombs and textural contradictions to the attentive service and warm ambiance, our dinner at The Restaurant is among the top fine dining experiences of my life. Having the fortune and luxury to dine at Michelin restaurants around the world from Napa to New York City to Versailles, the twelve course tasting menu delivered more than anticipated and is perhaps the most memorable and delicious of them all. The Restaurant's name really can have no other name as fitting as its current epithet.

The meal began with an offering of champagne which we politely refused. Immediately my husband and I were served an array of half a dozen amuse-bouche with complex flavors and spices, mainly with an Asian flair. From the Gruyere cone and baked potato puff to the rice roll and seafood foam bisque with caviar, our palettes were absolutely whetted. Every course was on point. The various ingredients which independently are ordinary came together in every bite to be unique, one of a kind, bites of decadence and wonder. From the Norway lobster tail served with underripe mango discs in Rooibos broth to the Kagoshima beef prepared three ways, each dish was expertly prepared and delivered. It's no wonder Chef Heiko Nieder earned his three Michelin stars.

By the end of the meal, we were amazed how fast the five and half hours flew by. We finished with a dessert of milk and apple sorbets in a lychee broth, and of course several confections and pralines. The final bite was appropriately the best--a macadamia nut praline enrobed in white chocolate which reminded me

It was the second time me and my wife visited The Restaurant and while our first visit was very good, this one was absolutely fantastic. We were seated at a window with a breathtaking view of the city and the Zürichsee. We both opted for the 5-course menu but before we had a chance to try any of the dishes we were presented with a fantastic set of canapes (the parmesan, cabbage, pineapple and mustard cornet being by far the best one) and two types of amuse bouche (with the foamed egg with potatoes, smoked eel and chives being an absolute stunner). Of course these were accompanied with freshly baked bread served with cream cheese and truffle butter (I have to say, best truffle butter I've had by a mile). As for the menu itself, all courses were beautiful but the Norway lobster in Rooibos infusion with pumpkin and mango puree and the main course: deer served two ways, with cucumber, pear, a hint of wasabi and foamed potatoes on the side were beyond delicious. In fact the deer dish was perhaps the best thing I have ever eaten in Switzerland (having moved here in 2013). It was accompanied by a glass of red wine carefully selected by the restaurant's sommelier - Didier Claus and matching the taste notes of the meat perfectly. At the end of the dining experience, upon ordering coffee, we were also treated to a selection of sweets from which the salted peanut-caramel pralines clearly stood out as absolute highlights.
The restaurant's staff were very professional, attentive and helpful throughout our visit.
Overall I would highly recommend The Restaurant to all food lovers out there. What I find most exciting about the place is that the food served here is made with great imagination and artistry often with the use of sophisticated cooking techniques but at the same time the quality and natural flavors of the ingredients are allowed to shine and appeal to the diner.

We chose the 8 course menu and we were a bit disappointed. Although the quality of the ingredients is excellent and although the Chef's creativity is high, the food is too complicated and the palate remains confused. We are used to top Swiss restaurants such as Viollier and the Cheval Blanc in Basel , there is still a long way for this restaurant to reach that level

The entire dining experience was flawless. The food was creative and delicious. The service was one of the best we've had. They offered numerous mini appetizers and mini desserts before and after your courses. Those were fun and unexpected.

A memorable treat for our sensory organs! Unfortunately, we couldn't capture or contain it somehow.. couldn't make it last longer... :(

We chose the 8 course menue with the correlating wine to every course. But before the first course was served a virtually endless number of little greatings from the chef were served each of which was a culinary surprise. Every course that was served was just excellent. The staff very well educated, enganged, with the right touch of humour, the wine was served by the chef de service himself, explained every winde in great detail. Quite pricey though, but worth it.
