Great pub, ok service, good food - atmosphere cosy and nice. We went on Saturday in a bank holiday and it wasn't too busy compared to other visits.

On the not to large menu, there was approximately 6 choices not available. Very strange. The waiter said that they had not had their normal delivery that morning?

Having eaten here many times I had no hesitation taking a friend. He had a great meal but my salad was very disappointing, in fact it was awful. It must have taken the chef 5 minutes to put it together (badly) and did not taste too good either. There was a minute amount of chicken, the little gem lettuces had just been sliced through (right down to the stem) which were virtually inedible - £12.00 for that was extortionate. I mentioned it to the waitress at the time. We also had to remind the waitress a second time that we had ordered one more glass of wine.
I will go back to the pub as it is close to where I work and remember not to have the chicken Caesar salad.

Loved the decor and ambience. Service efficient and friendly - food and wine delicious although would have liked more veg/salad options - or to be included with main course.

Great location, and very cosy interiors, and I heard good things about pre-theatre dinners and the shows themselves - when we lunched here, it was not terribly busy, my friend's carrot and orange soup was really lovely, and the beetroot and goat cheese (crumbed and friend quarters) salad was nice, though not enough beetroot for my liking to call it a beetroot salad, and I am not sure if it's because of quantity or presentation, ie think slices on the bottom of the plate showered/hidden by salad leaves etc. My mushroom and spinach "Wellington" was lovely, but not enough mushroom, only just "a mention", and it had either uncooked pastry or some weird tasteless cheese inside, i could have done without it, because otherwise this was an excellent dish with poached duck egg and probably the nicest hollandaise i have ever tasted. I give the food overall rating of 3/5 only because the cheese platter was abysmal, cheese average, way too cold (felt like straight out of the fridge), with some strange biscuits and chutney, not suitable or tasty, some apple, grapes, muscatels and proper bread, not to mention room temperature cheese serve would redeem otherwise underwhelming and disappointing finish to the meal.

Curtains Up is our local and we love it. Went for Sunday lunch for first time. Great selection if you eat meat but would've loved a veggie roast alternative. Service was excellent, food was great as always.
