Winner of 2 AA Rosettes and with a history dating back to Henry VIII, Ravenwood Hall Hotel is a stunning 16th-century Tudor hotel and restaurant that offers classic British flavours with bold, contemporary twists. The intimate dining room boasts an Inglenook fireplace and oak beams, and makes an ideal setting for traditional afternoon teas.
The very best in British ingredients go into the Ravenwood Hall Hotel menu, with recognisable classics given the gourmet touch. Nibbles to start include Saddleback crackling with apple sauce, or Maldon oysters served either natural with shallot vinegar, in a light tempura batter, or gratinated with parsley and parmesan. Small plates include smoked duck with orange and mustard endive salad, and for mains there is roasted lamb rump with potato gnocchi, a selection of steaks from the grill, and vegetarian options like heritage beetroot and rosary goats' cheese risotto.
Indulgent desserts at Ravenwood Hall Hotel Suffolk include treats like raspberry frangipane tart with white chocolate and raspberry macaroon, or Hendrick's gin and Fentimans tonic sorbet. There is a fine wine list, and range of spirits from the bar.
Set in 7 acres of secluded grounds, Ravenwood Hall Hotel is a stunning escape, with Thurston Rail Station being 5 minutes' drive away.

This is our third visit and it was really great. We discovered this wonderful venue on my birthday and it will be first choice for future meals! Food is exquisite, staff very friendly and location really beautiful.

Good meal served in quiet and comfortable dining room.my guest and I both enjoyed the broccoli and almond soup.i had the beer batteredfish and it was well cooked and had a good supply of chips and peas I could not finish the large fish portion- not a complaint just an observation.

Had lunch yesterday with three members of my family! Soused Mullet to start, beautifully presented and very tasty. Veal for main, liver particularly good, great jus as well. Shared a cheeseboard with brother in law, great selection and tangy tastes (spoonful of Dad's sorbet as well, zingy, but brain freeze!) Finally coffee, disappointed with the taste, no 'extras', like chocs or biscuit etc. (?) and not even a cafetière in sight!
Overall very good lunch, pleasant staff, not overly intrusive, and great location!
Value for money, not so sure! £180 plus for 4 people, with only 2 glasses of red wine at the table, seems somewhat excessive! (£8 to £10.50 for a starter! £17 / £18 for main, average, £7 dessert ! All a bit pricey!
Great food, but think we were paying a large chunk of the bill for location!
My first visit, family members been before!
Needs to be a place for a a Special Occasion rather than a Bank Holiday Monday lunch!
