Boasting 2 AA Rosettes, Park House Cardiff is a restaurant and wine bar with a modern British menu. The contemporary creativity of the food contrasts with the grand Victorian property in which the restaurant is housed.
The Park House menu focuses on using local Welsh ingredients to produce creative, British-influenced dishes. Start with parsnip and coco bean salad with pickled chanterelles and hazelnuts, or the rich chicken velouté with brioche and cep butter. Main dishes include the sumptuous venison with juniper berries, sweet and sour parsnips, foie gras caramel and roast pear, or the grouse with curly kale, game crouton and parsnip purée. Fresh fish dishes are also on offer, like Cornish turbot with Wiltshire truffle risotto, wild mushroom and truffle broth, and Parisienne vegetables.
Park House restaurant also serves a lavish afternoon tea of speciality sandwiches, hand-made cakes and pastries, and freshly baked scones. Added glamour can be added by choosing one of the champagne or cocktail afternoon tea options. An extensive wine, whisky and cocktail list complements any meal at Park House.
Close to the iconic castle, Park House is an 8-minute walk from Cardiff Queen Street Train Station.

we were three people in cardiff for the 6 nations match england vs wales- the park house had been recommended to us and was very convenient to the Park Plaza hotel where we were staying. we thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Park House- we arrived early and were seated immediately- the table was comfortable and not close to another table- the food and wine options were excellent- and fairly prized- the only slightly negative comment was that the lamb order we had was pretty much on the small side- it was delicious but only about 1" square- however that did not detract from a most enjoyable dinner

To give some context, I regularly dine out and eat at many different places from 2 star Michelin Restaurants to the local 'greasy spoon': our meal experience at Park House, Cardiff on Wednesday 8th February was one of the best I've ever had.
The food was excellent. In our party we had scallop and foie gras starters, we all had deer for main courses and deserts were soufle and cheeses: all of these were cooked to perfection with great flavours and textures.
The wine list is one of the most extensive I’ve seen and the sommelier is incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu suggests a wine pairing for each dish: we chose this for the starters and found the pairings to be spot on. For the main course we decided to have a bottle of red and asked the sommelier for a recommendation to go with the deer: again his choice was absolutely superb.
The pinnacle in all of this excellence though was the mixologist. My daughter decided she wanted a cocktail with her deer main course; she described flavours she liked and the need for it to pair with her meal. He created a drink which was not only fantastic in its own right but also genuinely complemented the deer.

Great experience. I like the idea of a minimum-effort tea - you ring the doorbell, are shown to your table, asked if you want champagne, and everything else just happens.
The cakes are top notch - opera cake was light, macarons were chewy, scones were warm and soft, and the tapioca and hazelnut pudding was an unexpected delight!
Some stuff could be improved - service is good but could be tighter, sandwiches could've been a bit more interesting, and don't expect a wide variety of tea (it just isn't that kind of place).
The star attraction, though, is the building itself. The Burgess architecture is lovingly preserved, and imparts it's rich character to the entire experience. Our table had a view over the museum gardens in a beautiful high-ceilinged room.

the building looks very nice. But we are not satisfied with the service and food. The waiters are not bad, but there was always nobody in the dining room for the service. We had to wait for a long time until someone show up. The food is not bad, but not worth that high price.

We had the 7 course tasting menu. The food was disappointing. 2 of the 7 courses were good. The tortellini was over cooked and tough as a consequence. The scallops which were listed on the menu was substituted for lobster without any explanation. The chef made a special Apple dessert for me which was delicious and much appreciated. The wine was excellent. Overall, we did not feel it was good value for money. The food was very mediocre and disappointing.

Beautiful restaurant. Our favorite dish was the canapes, We have had food there before and felt that it did not live up to other visits.
Enjoyed all the guests getting into the masquerade experience with masks, it would have been nice if the staff had done the same.
It was lovely to see nearly everyone attend wearing the appropriate dress code. One gent wore a jumper and body warmer. Dress Code ?

Made to feel welcome by staff.
Pleasant environment with table overlooking Cathays Park.
We had a 9 course tasting menu and all courses were nice but the beef and goose courses were particularly appreciated. Overall was the impression of a diverse range of tastes and textures.
One of the dessert dishes had a very chocolate item,sorry can't remember name, which might be too much for some tastes but I enjoyed it as it was subdued by the fantastic white chocolate ice cream.
A potential down side for female diners is that the ladies is a 'bit of a hike' up a number of flight of stairs.
As for wine, we had a white Reisling, exquisitely light and complemented the whole experience. For those with deep pockets for matching wines they would I am sure be of equal quality.
As for parking, may prove difficult in the day.
