Served in charmingly laidback surrounds, dishes are packed with the country's best wild food that is native to the UK.
From a River Cottage-trained chef, the Native menu showcases natural, foraged and seasonal ingredients. Dishes evolve with the seasons, but starters may include the likes of wild rabbit and prune pastilla with pickled walnut salad, or smoked pollock croquettes with lovage mayo. For mains, discover dishes like venison rack with spiced cabbage and pommes boulangeres, or flame-grilled clams with ham hock broth and homemade sourdough.
Desserts at Native Covent Garden are no less inventive. Joining a classic English cheese board are twists on favourites, such as pain perdu with basil and lemon curd ice cream.

An absolute gem of a restaurant. All courses from the scallops, the pigeon, the ham croquettes and the venison were executed so exquisitely. I'm not a big fan of desserts but we tried 3 of theirs and I would eat those all day long.

I had dinner with my partner at Native yesterday evening. The restaurant is small and most of the tables are in the lower ground, which is good when it is cold outside. All dishes were very good, although the vegetarian main was too small and needed to be complemented by a side dish. The venison dish was excellent, and the best dish was definitely the chocolate and beetroot cake, very refined desert with multiple parts like honeycomb, raspberries and buttermilk ice-cream. Excellent value for the level of quality offered. Service was also very good, we had a great time.
The only room for improvement I could suggest is the decoration of the restaurant, the idea of being in a forest is good, but the execution could be improved by using better materials.

Fabulous food and service. We had a baby in a pram, but the main restaurant is down a spiral staircase and there is no lift. However the restaurant were able to rearrange and get a table for us upstairs so we could still eat. Very accommodating.

Excellent fresh, inventive food, and excellent service. It is not unusual for people to use the adjective 'inventive' as a substitute for overdone (five sauces and multiple layers of ingredients all topped with foam) - this is not the case at Native. Inventive, at Native, is a balanced integration of flavours without being overdone.... it is simple, clean good cooking.
