The first cat café to open in Newcastle, Mog on the Tyne is a relaxing haven for animal lovers. The café acts as both a permanent home to rescued cats, and an interactive dining experience for guests.
Options on the Mog on the Tyne menu include soup of the day and scones, plus cheekily-named ‘pawninis’, which can be enjoyed while you play along with the resident felines. There are also hot and cold drinks and a selection of brownies and cakes, and all produce is locally sourced.
Found on one of the city’s oldest streets, Mog on the Tyne in Newcastle is a light and bright setting, with murals on the walls, and the personal touch of a chocolate-dusted paw print on your hot drink.
A small admission fee of £5 at Mog on the Tyne café goes towards the cats’ welfare. Newcastle Station is a 5-minute walk away.

We go every few weeks to see the cats .. SELF AND SISTERS with learning disability and limited mobility.
It is expensive but the simple food, paninis, and drinks are fine for us.We appreciate we are paying more because we are paying for an experience, not just lunch !
Staff always very welcoming without being intrusive.
We love being given cat treats to feed the cats.
We Dont mind at all the cats coming to try and pinch the human food, or cats on tables etc.. but i can see other people might find that yukky ,! But it is a cat cafe.. thats what it is about and why we go. Cats do not get into the kitchen.
Facilities entrance, toilet, etc are a challenge for anyone with mobility difficulties .We just manage but struggle. Some hand rails on all steps 2 rails on the stairs .. a chair or drop down bench by the entrance door would make a big difference to us.
Accessibity problems are why we give you 4 stars not 5 because we love to come

They are really lovely girls who run it, it is very relaxing but fun. In terms of food they just make such an effort to present everything really nicely. It's a really lovely time.

2nd time we have booked, great place to play with cats and have a cuppa! Cats can be a little sleepy (as cats are!) but soon spring to life when the treats come out. Had a lovely cup of earl grey and the cheese scone was gorgeous and hot. Staff are friendly and leave you to interact with the lovely kitties

Very good and friendly atmosphere, relaxing and the staff were great. The drinks we had were wonderful and the cat's speak (or meow) for themselves. Thankyou

My Grandaughter and I shared a tuna cheese panini which was nicely presented and tasty. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly, even as a non cat lover! It's great for children as they don't have to sit still, it's like home from home!

Lovely experience for person with learning disability and autism. Lovely to be near pet animals for non pet owner. Lovely touches like cat paw prints on drinks. We managed just with our limited mobility. Website does not make itclear that it is not suitable for people who cant climb a couple of steps without a handrail...and consideration could be given to making it more accessible..though the actual street, lack of parking and downstairs toilet make access challenging

Lovely calm friendly place and cats. Brilliant for me and my sister who has learning disability and autism, and is over 60. I would recommend to others with special needs. What a treat for pet lovers who do not have a pet of their own.
I know the building is limited making access a challlenge for people with limited mobility. But how about providing... a seat or offer of seat where we take shoes off.. brighter lighting and another handrail (one each side) on stairs to loo.. a rail or support to get up step to back of cafe ... or a ramp and rail there,.. a rail from street to front door, clear information about accessibility on the website. We loved our visit.. and will be back..but the place was just on the limits of what we can access. I know all these additions cost money but they widen your potential audience and many people who would love to come would be enabled by them. Parking is a hassle but we parked at the Gate and it was just a few minutes walk.. put that info on your website as well.
It was very expensive for a lunch.. but worth it for the cat experience. Thankyou for encouraging my sister to feed the cats their special treats.
