I booked a table of four for my mum's birthday for 26th February and we weren't disappointed. We opted for the Grand Afternoon tea which includes all the bells and whistles.
The selection of mini sandwiches were delicious and unusual for a standard afternoon tea which was thoroughly enjoyable, we all particularly enjoyed finding a small toasted cheese and ham sandwich!
Then there's the cakes, a scone each, a caramel tea cake, a mini brownie AND you get to choose your dessert of the day from their selection. Safe to say we were stuffed after all that amazing food but I'd go back again in a heartbeat!
Their special tea latte selection are something to try too. I highly recommend this little cute cafe for your afternoon tea in London experience. If you want something different, but don't want to pay the ridiculous London prices, then this is the place for you! 5***

We had booked the afternoon tea expecting an Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatters theme. However, when we arrived the cafe was bare, lacked any distinctive theme and we were informed the tea had been cancelled a while back. We were invited to try their normal afternoon tea, however we picked the location specifically for the theme. Furthermore the cafe was very basic and not really what one expects from an afternoon tea.

The ambience had nothing to do with the Mad Hatter theme so this was slightly underwhelming , we expected at least something to do with Alice in wonderland, so slightly misleading, however the cakes were lovely and the nibbles were ok. We did have to sit and wait so a slight delay but was charged for one less person due to this.

This was a birthday treat which turned out to only be enjoyable due to the company. The shock on faces when the savoury element of the afternoon tea arrived was the start of some serious giggles over how tiny everything was ... (Must have all been dowsed in shrink me ointment... Or the hot drinks we had prior may have had some of the 'eat me' biscuits in!) There were four of us and the two meat eaters selection of savouries were a green finger (smaller than your pinky) with a tiny prawn on top, 1/2 a 10p size profiterole with cream cheese and a spec of salmon and finally a triangle of cheese and ham toastie! For the veggies... Wait for it, two triangles of egg and tomato sandwiches (which must have been from a mini loaf... Plus the bread was that lovely starting to go crisp due to being exposed to the air too long texture), a 50p slice of round toast with apricot and stilton x3 and one 10p half a profiterole with what looked like cream cheese and apricot (dubiously like the salmon one on the saucer above !) Oh and a tiny triangle of cheese toasty.

The place was empty and situated in a box office!!! There was a distinct lack of mad hatter's tea party theme and the chairs were extremely uncomfortable ... 'all change!'

If you have a disability and struggle with mobility ... You have to navigate stairs to both of the toilets ... Of which I didn't use as I was in too much pain from the chairs!

The hot chocolate we all actually chose was ok. ... This was a generous size but just your average powdered chocolate and a bit of squirty cream.

The sweet course was pretty, but the dried rose petals (looked a bit like pot Puri) put everyone off. The mini macaron was perfect and the millionaires shortbread gooey perfection albeit miniscule 2cm x 3cm maximum! The postage stamp of brownie was a lovely texture and flavour. All these tiny tasters made the cakes we chose look huge, but again my cinder toffee cupcake was a fairy cake in disguise.
Save your bums and money! Avoid!

Bit disappointed with the whole thing. Food was particularly average, service was patchy (depending on who you were talking to, really) and certainly not worth the money...

The food is delicious!! Would love to try tea latte again, the food/cake is soft and so fresh! Made us girlies wanting for the seconds! Watch out that slice of cake!!! Yumm!
The decoration layout isn't what I expect, I expect more of madd hatter tea party table, but it's not. Really not much of decoration around the room/tables. Pretty plain, I wasn't sure if I am in right place, until saw the menu on the wall. There are some pretty decorate on window also some tree in the middle of room, I feel it could do bit of more.
We booked for 1pm on Sunday, its become crowd around the cafe as the cafe is via theatre… So many people start to queue for drink or getting in theatre, bumping each other while we sat on the chair, felt uncomfortable, we got chairs, what we would love to sit on the sofa! But never mind. The staff is absolutely lovely and very friendly!

We had a wonderful dining experience at MADD Hatter's cafe! It is actually inside of the Arts Theatre. We went for the Alice in Wonderland theme and for a quirky tea while I had a friend visiting from the US. The Alice theme was a bit thin, except for the decorations in the window, to be honest, but that is about the only negative thing I have to say. The Tey Lattes were fantastic. The selection savory bites were all delicious - smoked salmon, feta and sun dried tomato, etc. We selected 2 different slices of cake - lemon and GF Orange polenta cake with cream cheese frosting. Both were excellent, but the orange cake was divine. There was also a macaroon, a brownie bite and a chocolate covered marshmallow. All for £14! A great deal. You could go to a fancier tea and for about £30 more, you'd get a scone, plus everything we had.
