The most expensive meal I have ever experienced and by some distance the best. Choose seven course option with premium wine matching and everything was superb and beautifully balanced. Especially loved the Foie Gras with the Riesling Auslese match!
Definitely worth every penny!

Hélène Darroze, one of France’s most celebrated and distinguished chefs, has crafted a truly superlative dining experience at Hélène Darroze at The Connaught. Awarded 2 Michelin stars, and recipient of an astounding 4 AA Rosettes to date, the restaurant offers an unsurpassed taste of fine French dining.

Taking huge pride in the regional and seasonal ingredients used, the Hélène Darroze at The Connaught menu also showcases Hélène’s gastronomic roots from the Landes region of south west France. Duck foie gras is served with walnut wine reduction, dried fruit chutney and amaranth leaves, while sumptuous blue lobster is combined with piquant flavours, such as fresh Alphonso, green mango, coriander and pimientos del piquillo. As well as dedicated brunch and vegetarian menus, Hélène Darroze at The Connaught Mayfair offers diners eclectic Vietnamese flavours and other Asian influences.

Offering the pinnacle in personalised fine dining, the Hélène Darroze sommelier’s table is housed in a stunning private dining room that overlooks a limestone-clad cellar housing over 6,000 vintage wines. For dinner, bespoke 7-course menus are specially designed by Hélène Darroze to match a tailor-made selection of wines, while 4-course seasonal lunches are prepared to match the wine regions that have inspired the 2 Michelin star chef. Enjoy luxurious flavour combinations accompanied by bins from some of the world’s most celebrated wine regions. (Please note that only the a la carte menu is available at the weekend, not the lunch set menu.)

    Always excellent, except when booked through books table. Do not use their service. It is full of bugs and completely rubbish. But the restaurant is chic, and charming.

    Shocked by the low standard of food being served under the roof of such well established London landmark. The head chef might be a two starred chef, the actual people who cook the food in this restaurant are low skilled chefs. From the 7 course dishes ordered, two were served cold when they should have been served hot. Another dish was undercooked to the extent that I wasn't sure if it was safe to eat whilst the remaining dishes tasted bland. Perhaps they simply forgot the seasoning. I will give them credit for the presentation of the dishes, they were very neatly presented. But look is nothing without substance. The restaurant ambience was however very fine with very comfortable furniture. The guys at Michelin needs to re-evaluate this restaurant. If this place is two star rated, then the rating system needs to allow the award of 10 stars. You get my message.

    We had the lunch menu with cheese board with paired wines and dessert with paired wine. Every one was pleased with the amuse-bouche and starter. The venison main was also great. The cod main, advertised as sea bream on the website, was disappointing: it felt as a less flavoured repeat of the Garlic starter, same dish but with a different herb, with a good cut of cod but so little vegetables. Everyone else savoured the meat dish with great pleasure: the cooking of the meat was good and the jus just delicious. The dessert and nibbles were also fantastic. The service was very, very good, although I would have preferred a sommelier with a little more bottle. The very young girl we had was however pleasant and charming.
