Located just yards from Home Farm at Goodwood, Farmer, Butcher, Chef is dedicated to showcasing the flavour, quality and provenance of their meat and serving dishes where the customers will have travelled farther than the ingredients. One of the only self-sustaining organic farms in Europe, Goodwood has been farmed by the family for over 300 years.
The frequently changing menu champions seasonal English fare, making the most of Home Farm produce, accompanied by selected ingredients from local suppliers. Designed with the on-site butcher, dishes vary according to what cuts are available. The Butcher’s Boards are an imaginative way to enjoy beef, pork and lamb, highlighting different cuts served in an array of carefully-designed dishes.

Beautifully presented restaurant, welcoming and not intimidating. Very friendly and well informed staff . A little short of staff in the bar when the evening rush started. Shown to the table on time and orders taken without time pressure. I had the lamb Butchers board which was excellent and with good quantities and represented very good value for money. The wine was very nice ( Del Bosque) although I thought the prices for wines I knew were a little on the high side. Glasses were unusual but I grew to enjoy them as the evening wore on ! Overall an excellent dining experience with tasty , fresh food that has been very well prepared.

Excellent all round except for the fact that the oysters were on a pile of salt that looked like potato mash with obvious cosequences!

Plenty of teething troubles. We had travelled a long way to be there, were very excited to try to the new restaurant and were left incredibly disappointed. The restaurant manager did her best to make up for the appalling food and absent-minded service from others, but it will be some time before we brave another visit. We were very grateful to have a reservation elsewhere on the second night of our stay. We fully appreciate that everywhere has teething troubles and it's impossible to please everyone from the word go when everything is new and staff are settling in etc, but it just felt that it was trying too hard and failing to deliver. Our party would have been happier with a much more down to earth offering executed well.

Food was amazing, service also very good (Goodwood is not normally known for its service, but the staff in the restaurant have been very well trained). Wine offering poor! For the market you are aiming at I would suggest an enomatic machine or equivalent is a must! Good wine by the glass has made a return and it is disappointing top see such a limited selection on the menu.

Delicious food, meat spectacular I had the short rib beef it was melt in the mouth. Stunning surroundings too.

Loved the makeover decor wise. Staff were very friendly and mainly efficient - there seemed to be a lack of communication between ordering and getting drinks - we waited quite a while and had to re ask. (not the end of the world and staff were very apologetic)
Bar nibbles great - the tongue portion was a bit generous and the pheasant samosas fantastic.
I had the mushroom first course which was amazing - such a beautiful mushroom flavour - slightly difficult to eat with a fork - could do with a spoon and maybe one larger piece of your wonderful sourdough toasted rather than the tiny crouton in with the mushroom.
My husband had the pork jowl - said the vinaigrette was excellent, could do with more oregano flavour but pretty good.
We shared the beef board - had its highs - the faggot, and the short rib were great - the skirt steak cooked beautifully and we were not sure what was in with the lettuce, but it was too little for such a lot of lettuce. I love horseradish, but the foam we got didn't pack enough of a punch - could have done with a small selection of sauces - we asked for and got mustard but could have had more.
The winter greens were delicious.
We weren't going to have pudding, but ended up sharing the apple souffle which was absolutely fabulous - would come back just for that.

had a great time here, food as expected (try the fried oysters, fantastic), excellent but the 'Butchers Cuts' were replaced with the trad Sunday roast, which was understandable being a Sunday but never the less a bit disappointing.
My only real small complaint and that is why service is only a 4 rating, is that on arrival to our table, our waitress, who was very attentive, was chewing gum....fortunately this must have been pointed out to her as a little later it had disappeared but not what you really expect at Goodwood.
I would also say that all the young waiting staff seemed a little nervous and perhaps needed more training, I realise that the restaurant is very new but that cannot be used as an excuse.
