From acclaimed restaurateur Phil Howard, Elystan Street Chelsea serves seasonal, ingredient-led, gimmick-free dishes, in a relaxed but refined setting. Rich British and European flavours are joined by an impressive wine selection, as well as creative cocktails and local beers.
The Elystan Street menu begins with the likes of roast calf’s sweetbread with truffled autumn slaw, tartare of aged beef with artichoke heart and truffle, and ravioli of langoustines with barbecue dressing. Amongst the flavour-packed mains, try breast of mallard with pumpkin and chestnuts, salt-baked white beetroot and celeriac with truffled hazelnut pesto, or the aged fillet and short rib of beef with creamed potato, bone marrow, wild mushroom and red wine.
Desserts at Elystan Street restaurant are just as inventive, and include roasted figs with goat’s milk ice cream, lemon and thyme fritters and olive oil, and smashed brownie with chocolate foam, hazelnut ice cream and vanilla Chantilly. The Elystan Street wine list covers an array of international wines, with rare bottles joined by champagnes, ports and sherries.

Everything was perfect, I couldn't decide what to eat so Phil made me smaller portions of three starters and three mains....... tapas Phil Howard style with a divine Meurseault to accompany. A perfect Valentine's lunch in a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.

Absolutely incredible experience. The atmosphere is very comfortable, but upscale. The wait staff was incredibly knowledgable about the menu with very good wine pairings. And the food...just WOW!!!

Best food we've had in a new restaurant (new to us, that is) for a long time. Very good Wine List for its size. Better than its predecessor (Tom Aikens). Pity there weren't any of the trimmings (amuse gueules, a chocolate with the coffee etc): the prices would have justified them.

The restaurant -- from its calm, lighted façade to its simple, muted interior -- is lovely. We were warmly greeted and seated and our menu questions were answered as we munched on Marcona olives and Castelvetrano )??) olives. The sommelier recommended a glass of Albarino (a wine we didn't know) to go with the fish we had chosen, and off we went! Tartare of scallops, Oysters 3 ways, Squid, and Cod -- all these dishes were delicious. We loved the combinations of unusual ingredients (lovage? who knew? and the fresh, clean tastes. Our desserts, a Rhubarb/Victoria sponge log and a Lime tart with Passionfruit, were equally wonderful. We are so glad the New York Times reviewed Elystan Street, and we're especially glad we read the review and booked a table before we got on the plane to London. We'll be back the next time we're here!

A beautiful lunch menu; I would have been happy with any of the dishes on it. Food was delicious but not over- worked. Service was very welcoming and relaxed in a confident and assured way. Dining room was fresh yet warm; a massive improvement on the boring, beige decor of the Square. Very much look forward to visiting again.

Really good restaurant and great value fine dining based on superb quality ingredients. I had a mackerel dish which was really interesting (with rhubarb and a Vichyssoise sauce. Lovely staff, really friendly and down to earth as well as efficient. No pretention.

Wonderful evening where the perfection out of the back of the house served to smooth the rather uneven performance of the front. Whether is was the tartar, sweetbreads or the lime tart, all were simply spot on and memorable. However I am left troubled by the management choice to concurrently sit two, two-tops and an eight-top with a clearly in over her head waitress. I appreciate that we all need to learn our trades, but at palace like Elystan Street, it is best left for lunch service and not for an almost £200 anniversary dinner with my wife. Wine service was as expected, but being forced to wait almost 20 minutes to place a meal order and then another 10, with a cleared table and empty glasses, to ask for the check is not proper hospitality. All this said, the dreams coming up from the subterranean kitchen will get us back again, and should be enough to get anyone in the door. B
