Described by the Good Food Guide 2014 as a “seductive hotel with seriously good dining,” and recently voted “Best Restaurant in the South West” in the Food Reader Awards 2015, Combe House Devon is set in an Elizabethan manor with stunning countryside views. Headed by Master Chefs of Great Britain, Hadleigh Barrett & Stuart Brown, the restaurant serves a table d’hôte menu of modern British cuisine.
With some ingredients sourced from Combe House’s own Victorian gardens, menu highlights include marinated red mullet with marinda tomatoes, olive, fennel and balsamic and brill roasted on the bone, ratte potatoes with seaweed, lettuce, and champagne sauce with cucumber and caviar. Crème fraiche custard with confit blood orange and blood orange sorbet leads the decadent dessert menu.
Combe’s ancient underground cellars provide optimum conditions for storing the select list of fine wines, chosen for their absolute quality, interest and above all, integrity. Pre-dinner drinks can be enjoyed by the crackling fire in winter and al fresco on the croquet lawn in summer with a tempting array of canapés whilst the culinary delights to follow will be experienced in one of three uniquely-styled dining rooms.
