Awarded its first Michelin Star within only a few months of opening, Ametsa with Arzak Instruction offers a unique and exquisite take on Basque cuisine within the 5-star COMO The Halkin hotel.

Crafting the deep, earthy flavours of Spain’s Basque region, Ametsa is borne from the father & daughter team who head up the 3 Michelin-starred Arzak restaurant in San Sebastian, Spain. Menus showcase the finest organic, local produce sourced from land and sea, with guests invited to experience groundbreaking dishes like ‘from egg to chicken’, ‘quick-changing squid’, or ox cheeks with vanilla.

Ametsa at COMO The Halkin has recently launched tapas and set lunch menus, including options of spider crab salad, and an Iberico ham plate. You can also enjoy a unique Afternoon Tea at COMO The Halkin bar.

Experimental twists for dessert at Ametsa in Knightsbridge includes dishes like The Big Truffle clove custard with pineapple ice cream, or French toast with mango and coconut. A striking dining room filled with brilliant white surfaces and golden tubular ceiling coverings is the work of acclaimed designer, Ab Rogers.

    Stunningly good food and efficient yet friendly service. Highlights: squid in the tapas selection starter and salmon main, but everything was superb. Wine list has some good bottles at the lower end of the price range.

    Excellent dining experience. Staff went above and beyond. The chef catered for us not being able to eat certain things and the food was like art work. beautiful, sensory and a pleasure.

    Wonderful experience and great service. Very relaxed dining experience - which still feeling very special. Food was amazing - a particular highlight was the desert of apple and floral candy. The Spanish Cava was also delicious and the wine waiter very enthusiastic about spanish wines.

    Absolutely excellent in all aspects. The staff were attentive, communicative and well-humoured. The food was the best I have ever eaten; the tuna with cinammon was an unexpected triumph, and the combination of visuality, smokey aromas, spice and contrasting textures was divine. The best dining experience that my girlfriend and I have ever had.

    Wonderful restaurant, food was probably the best I have eaten in a long time and excellent value for money. Can't wait to go back.

    We were looking forward to dining here and were very disappointed. We can't imagine the food we had being up to Arzac's standards. The little appetizers were greasy and a bit tasteless, with the sardine donut being the most pleasant of them all. The turbot and monkfish were completely unremarkable, with the latter being a dish overall too sweet. The starters (scallops and langoustines) were the best food we had all night and even so definitely not Michelin star quality. We can't even begin to understand why there were tapioca crackers in every dish and in such bizarre colours as deep blue - they did add some crunch to otherwise mushy dishes, but were completely flavourless. The food was overall so unimpressive that we decided to skip dessert and were really glad not to have chosen the tasting menu.
    The drinks were the best thing we had, especially the passionfruit non-alcoholic cocktail and the basque white wine. The staff was very helpful and nice.
    This seems to us like a very overpriced restaurant that stands in the shadow of a huge name in the culinary world, without doing it any justice. We would not return and wouldn't recommend it for any purpose.
